45 Staff Of Winneba Specialist Hospital Asked To Self-Isolate After Covid-19 Exposure

Forty-five staff of the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital have been directed by Management to go home and self-isolate after they were exposed to a covid-19 patient for one week.

The patient was said to have been brought in with symptoms of the disease and had his samples taken for testing. However, after the test had returned positive for coronavirus diseases, the hospital could not isolate him because it had no holding bay.

Two units of the hospital, where the patient had been received – the accident and emergency centre and the main ward – have been shut.

The staff are to stay at home and keep away from people while samples collected from them are being tested for the virus.

Ghana’s Covid-19 case count has shot past 10,000 with more people nowadays reporting to hospitals with full-blown symptoms, unlike in the past few months when most carriers of the virus were asymptomatic.
