Audit Service Board Brands Auditor General Togolese -In Hatchet Job To Cover-up Corruption At Auditor-Generals’

The vicious witchhunt by the Audit Service Board against Auditor-General, Daniel Yaw Domelevo, has come to a head with a last-ditch attempt by the Professor Edward Dua Agyeman-led Audit Service Board attempting to force him into early retirement.

The Audit Service Board led by Domelevo’s arch-enemy, Prof. Edward Dua Agyemang, has written to him saying that he cannot return to the office on Wednesday, March 3, 2021, when his forced 167-day leave expires.

First, the audit service which had suddenly developed a questionable interest in the background of Mr. Domelevo claim while he was away on the unwanted sabbatical forced on him by President Akufo Addo, they have been digging his true identity and have realized that he was not a Ghanaian, despite his more than four decades of service to the country.

The board also claimed he lied about his birthday.

In correspondences between the Board and Mr. Domelevo, he was informed that even though he claimed to have been born in 1961, he was actually born in 1960. This means that he reached the age of 60 in June 2020 and not the upcoming June in 2021.

And Edward Dua Agyemang informed Domelevo that he found out this about him from digging up his vital statistics at the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT).

The fishing expedition, the Board told Domelevo in a letter dated February 26, 2021, also yielded information to the effect that Mr. Domelevo is in actuality a Togolese and not a Ghanaian.

It alleged that his records at SSNIT show that his date of birth was June 1960 and he joined the scheme on October 1, 1978.

Also, the hometown he stated is Agbetofe in Togo; making him non-Ghanaian.

However, the same letter admits that on October 25, 1993, Mr. Domelevo changed his stated date of birth from June 1, 1960, to June 1, 1961. Also, his hometown was changed from Agbetofe to Ada, in the Greater Accra Region.

Mr. Domelevo has since replied and explained that his grandfather was a native of Ada in the Greater Accra Region but migrated to Togo and stayed at Agbetofe.

In respect of his date of birth, he explains that he noticed that 1960 was a mistake when he checked his information in the baptismal register of the Catholic Church in Adeemmra, Ashanti Region, where he was baptized.

“I was born in Kumasi and my mother in less than three weeks after my birth, returned to Kwahu Adeemmra (with me) and I was baptized in June 1961,” he explained.

However, Prof. Dua Agyemang and his Board are not about to let their finest opportunity to silence the critical Domelevo slip out of hand.

“By a copy of this letter, the Board is informing the President who is your appointing authority to take the necessary action. Additionally, the Board is making available to the President all the relevant documents at our disposal,” the Board wrote.

Daniel Yaw Domelevo became an enemy of the Akufo-Addo government when he went after former Senior Minister, Yaw Osafo Maafo over his shady payment of US$1million to a UK company, Kroll and Associates, for no work done.

However, in 2018, the Auditor General found out that Kroll and Associates had done no work to merit the money.

Osafo Maafo was asked to explain the payment but could not do it satisfactorily and so the Auditor General surcharged him. Unbeknownst to the Auditor General, his corruption fight was seen by the Akufo-Addo Jubilee House as an act of war.

Edward Dua Agyeman, the Audit Service Board started the witchhunt, using Domelevo’s accumulated leave as an excuse to ask the President to remove him. Akufo-Addo first sentenced Domelevo to 123 days of mandatory leave, and when the AG protested, he increased it to 167 days.

By this time, Domelevo was in court with Osafo Maafo over the US$1million cash flight. And so by his removal, Osafo Maafo’s slate was suddenly given a squeaky clean bill.

Barely a day after Domelevo proceeded on his forced leave, his assistant, Johnson Akuamoah who is said to be a lackey of the Akufo Addo administration, quickly absolved the Senior Minister and the case was thrown out.

According to Audit Service staff, Akuamaoh is lazy, corrupt and incompetent, his sugar daddy ensures that he is maintained at the Audit Service.
