NPP Promises Free “Borla” For Votes

The Akufo-Addo re-election campaign is promising to cart way trash from households for free if the President is re-elected to another four-year term.

They are calling it the “Free Borla,” promise.

It is not clear how exactly another Akufo-Addo administration would do this, as waste management has been one of the most challenging things for the country and one of the obvious failures of the government which had promised to rid the country and the capital city of Accra of rubbish within 100 days of its administration.

“Free Borla,” campaign is running, with special posters printed to drum it home to voters by the ruling party.

Pundits are however saying the promise is a dangerous one as it could easily promote indiscipline in the country, something that has triggered indiscriminate dumping of rubbish by residents.

The free “Borla” service still leaves a lot of unanswered questions as it is not clear if the waste Departments of the various Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies that will be funded to go from house to house to carry “Borla” away for free or it would be implemented in partnership with private companies.
