The Electoral Commission has reported that it has registered a total of 7.2million voters in approximately two weeks of the ongoing compilation of the voters register.
This is about 48% of the projected 15million voters that the EC wants to capture onto the voters’ register.
At a press conference dubbed, “Let the citizens know” the EC said the exercise has so far been smooth.
Deputy Chairperson in Charge of Administration, Dr. Bossman Asare, gave the breakdown of the numbers.
“The Greater Accra Region leads with 1,524,600 whilst the Ashanti Region is 1,319,198. four of the regions contributed almost 60% of the registered voters and these are the Greater Accra Region, the Ashanti Region, the Eastern Region and the Central Region; almost 58.9%,” he said.
