3 In Critical Condition At Yeji After Strange Gun Attack

Three people are in critical condition at a hospital in Yeji, Volta Region, after unidentified gunmen opened fire on them yesterday night.

The three whose names are not readily available are on admission at the St. Mathias Hospital in the Volta regional town.

Five other victims who sustained lesser degrees of bodily harm have since been treated and discharged.

According to the victims, they had gathered at a provision store where they were watching a soccer match when the attack happened. Around 9 o’clock pm, the gunmen were seen running towards their general direction.

Some people who had sensed danger raised alarm and started running for their lives, but the gunmen opened fire.

Eight (8) people were hit by bullets but five were treated and discharged because their injuries were not serious. For the remaining three, however, the Hospital has had to perform x-ray scans on them with doctors fearing bullets may be lodged in their bodies. The outcome of the scans will determine whether to operate.

Nobody knows the explanation for the gun attack. The Police have since launched investigations.
