Ludacris Ditch Ghana For Gabonese Citizenship in Year of Return

Famed American rapper, Christopher Brian Bridges, also known as  Ludacris, has swerved Ghana to receive a Gabon citizenship.

On Thursday night, he posted a Twitter post that read: “Starting my New Year off with Dual Citizenship” Africa, I’m official! Momma and kids too…,” as he proudly flaunts his Gabon citizenship.

Before embarking on a trip to Gabon, Ludacris had been in Ghana on the famous train of the Year of Return (YOR). He was among several celebrities who glowingly mused over the beauty of Ghana and Ghana being their new home.

Ludacris was quoted recently saying all the best women were in Africa and Ghana. His visit took him to several renowned cites in Ghana as Ghanaians eagerly expected him to declare his allegiance to Ghana like many other American celebrities have done since visiting under the auspices of the YOR.

However, after the stopover in Ghana, he jetted off to Gabon to grab his citizenship.

Ludacris is married to Eudoxie Mbouguiengue, the 33-year-old model Gabonese American. They have been married for over five years.

His decision to take on Gabon citizenship is purely influenced by his wife’s nationality, even though he has expressed love for Africa in general, calling the continent “Motherland”.

The YOR is a highly successful policy of the Akufo Addo administration to attract the African diaspora back home. So far, several superstars have visited Ghana because of the initiative.

Some popular names that have been on the YOR train include, Idris Elba, Steve Harvey, Naomi Campbell, Morgan Heritage, Michael Jai White, Djimon Hounsou, Boris Kodjoe, Anthony Anderson, Jidenna, Rick, Ross, etc.

Industry watchers think this is a huge endorsement for Ghana and that it could trigger an avalanche of millions of African Americans into Ghana for visits or to take up citizenship.

Already, the Akufo Addo administration has granted several citizenships to those interested.
