Supreme Court Set MARCH 4TH FOR Election Petition RULING

The Supreme Court has set March 4, 2021, to deliver its ruling in the 2020 Election Presidential Election Petition taken to court by ex-President John Dramani Mahama.

The schedule was announced today by Chief Justice Kwasi Anin-Yeboah who is chairing the seven-member Supreme Court panel presiding over the milestone petition.

“The petition is adjourned to March 4, 2021, for judgment,” Anin-Yeboah said simply after the court had thrown out the umpteenth motion filed by the petitioner.

After several days of failing to convince the court to have his case reopened, John Mahama, through his legal team was given permission by the Supreme Court to file his closing address ahead of the ruling.

The court earlier described Mahama’s application for review of the court’s decision refusing him to reopen his case as “wholly and without merit”.

This will bring to an end a curious string of decisions that had been taken at the Supreme Court to set the pace for future elections in Ghana.
