Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Ken Agyapong, has alleged that resigned Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu, together with late former President Jerry John Rawlings, had a barter arrangement with President Akufo-Addo to destroy the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in exchange for contracts.
Speaking on his Net 2 TV station, Ken Agyapong alleged that the former Special Prosecutor and the late former President had deliberately schemed to ensure that the NDC remained in opposition so that the two could take over the party.
According to him, a particularly important knot in the plot was for Mr. Rawlings’ daughter, Zanetor Rawlings, to take over leadership of the party with Amidu as right-hand man.
And for their roles in the Fifth Column that would ensure that John Mahama never becomes President again, both Amidu and Rawlings were rewarded with juicy contracts by President Akufo-Addo and his government.
“Honestly somethings annoy me; even Rawlings and co. were all getting contracts, Rawlings, I say, Rawlings, they were giving Rawlings contracts. The things I’m holding in me, regarding the way we treated the party people…,” the loose-talking Agyapong blurted out.
“As for Martin Amidu, you just wait and let us successfully cross January 7, the way I will strip him naked. The plans he had against NDC; NDC should be careful, because he had planned with Rawlings to make sure that Mahama loses, and after Mahama has lost Zanetor and Amidu would take over the party,” Ken Agyapong said.
The Assin Central MP said he was peeved because the Akufo-Addo government gave many contracts to NDC people, in particular, Rawlings, to the neglect of hardworking members of the NPP who had sacrificed so much for the party.
“And the contracts that were given to Rawlings, please NPP people should wake up. They keep saying I am destroying the party, today I have told you the truth, I fear no one. We’ve won but if you see the efforts the party people put together, it’s not easy you cannot sideline your own people,” said Ken Agyapong.
In the matter of not sidelining the NPP’s own, Agyapong demanded that the Akufo-Addo government stop giving contracts to NDC people and give them to NPP people so as to build the party up.
According to him, an analysis of the 2020 elections shows that voters are divided at a ratio of 45% : 45% between the NPP and the NDC, and that the NPP would be the wiser if it were to concentrate on building its half of the 45% to the denigration of the NDC’s 45% and then try to win the remaining 6% that the party would need to win elections.
“You see, take it 45 – 45 make sure you satisfy your own 45 and look for the 6% by the general policies and development, but if you sacrifice your 45 and deal with the NDC people if they joke I will give a bombshell here right now,” the Assin MP warned.
