The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Asikuma Odoben Brakwa Constituency of the Central Region has reportedly crossed the carpet to the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP).
According to reports, Eric Kwesi Taylor, explains that his decision to defect, just a month to elections is borne out of his admiration for President Akufo-Addo and the manifesto of the NPP.
It is not clear, but on the surface, it appears that the decision means that the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for the Constituency will in effect go unopposed. This is because the filing of nominations with the Electoral Commission has been closed.
Now the NDC has been jolted to the fact that the party has been invaded by possible moles who were sponsored by the NPP to take positions in the party.
The defection of the Asikuma Odoben Brakwa comes in the wake of the NDC Chairman for Ayawaso North, running to the Police with guns and accusing the NDC’s National Vice Chairman, Alhaji Sinare of supplying him with the guns.
Alhaji Sinare in a statement has said that he detected that Tahiru Ahmed, who had been his employee for eight years, was a mole of the NPP and quickly fired him.
A few days later, Tahiru ran to the Police with AK 47 rifles claiming they had been supplied to him by Sinare and that Sinare had also instructed him to supply the guns to party people in the Northern region.
