POLICE ADMINISTRATION PROBES WOMAN-BEATING COP

The Ghana Police Service has commenced investigations into the viral incident at an unknown voters’ registration centre where a police officer was filmed brutally slapping a woman.

The incident, which was captured in a video that has gone since gone viral on social media, shows a woman brutally assaulted by the officer after a brief heated argument.

The reason for the exchanges and the consequent slapping is unclear, but the police administration has obviously been prompted by the incident and claims it is launching an investigation into the matter.

“The attention of the Police Administration has been drawn to a video circulating on social media in which a police officer is seen slapping a woman at a place believed to be a Voters Registration Centre,” the Ghana Police Service said in a statement.

“The Police Administration wishes to assure the public that it has commenced an investigation into the matter and will provide facts of the matter to the public in due time, all should be assured.”

The incident is just one of several reports of violence at registration centres during the ongoing controversial compilation of a new voters register.
