Minister for Health Kwaku Agyeman-Manu has strangely blamed Ghanaians for the rising numbers in the deadly COVID-19 cases on the country.
Ghana’s Covid-19 cases are almost 10,000 (approximately 9,910) as at press time. This is an increase of some 7,000 new cases since the government and the Ghana Health Services (GHS) had announced that Ghana’s cases had peaked in late April and that the trajectory can only start a downward trend.
Speaking on Okay FM in an interview monitored by Whatsup News, the Minister claims the public have willfully refused to obey the safety protocols announced by the government.
“Many people are not heeding the preventive protocols, if they had, we would probably not be seeing such increases,” Mr. Agyeman Manu said in Twi, as he pleased with the media to campaign for adherence to safety protocols.
“Now, that we have relaxed restrictions to movement of people, we will definitely see cases rise,” he said.
According to the Minister, the government will soon start to prosecute offenders who simply refuse to carry common safety nose masks as they go out to engage in their daily activities.
The Ghana Health Service has confirmed over 283 Covid-19 cases, bringing the total number to 9,910 from 9,638 a few days ago.
The number of people who have recovered has also increased to more than 3,636 and there has been 48 deaths recorded so far in Ghana since the outbreak of Covid-19 on March 12, 2020.
