The leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has condemned the demolishing of Raymond Archer’s US$ 10 million printing factory -Universal Labels & Packaging Co.
The biggest opposition party described the demolition as an act of cowardice spearheaded by a “vindictive” President Akufo-Addo.
“This is clearly an act of cowardice driven by Akufo Addo’s insatiable desire for vindictiveness and nepotistic totalitarianism. This demolition exercise constitutes an act of economic brutality targeted at a hardworking young businessman,” the NDC said in a statement signed by the party’s General-Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia.
The NDC pushes its inference further by claiming that the destruction was a deliberate scheme to target companies perceived to be owned by people leaning towards the NDC.
“We have witnessed the unlawful closure of financial institutions, radio stations, media houses, construction companies and several other local businesses,” the NDC accused the NPP government as it demands an “immediate cessation of these acts of provocation”.
The NDC has hinted at a fightback, saying that, “President Akufo Addo must be reminded that when injustice and impunity becomes law, resistance becomes an inevitable duty of the people.”
The warning is similar to a recent warning issued by the opposition party’s Flagbearer, John Dramani Mahama. He recently told a gathering that the NPP is bracing to unleash confusion and that when this happens, the NDC will have no choice than to defend itself.
