The Takoradi constituency treasurer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Mark Ofori has today, been shot dead by some unknown persons, Whatsup News has gathered.
It is believed that the unknown assailant stormed the deceased home and shot him point-blank. No motive has yet been linked to the homicide.
The incident has sent shivers through the ruling party, Whatsup News gathered.
The Western Regional NPP Organizer, Abdul Ganiwu who officially confirmed the incident said Mr. Ofori, was very healthy when he attended an orientation of the party on Tuesday.
“We were called that someone had gone to the house and shot him dead…The constituency executives have been to the Effia Nkwanta Hospital where he has been kept. We say condolences to the family and NPP members in Takoradi, Western Region and Ghana as a whole,” Abdul Ganiwu said.
The deceased, who is was reportedly studying for his PhD scholarship is described by family and friends as “a wonderful a person”. His life was cut short from his wife and three children.
Latest information gathered by Whatsup New indicates that the Ghana Police Service has launched a manhunt for the suspected gunman. The Western Regional NPP Organizer, Abdul Ganiwu called on the public to volunteer information and assist the police to ensure that the assailant is arrested and made to face the law.
