President Akufo Addo hurriedly jettisoned out of the country with some close family members even though the streets of Ghana were beginning to erupt in spontaneous protests and potential violence, following the controversial declaration by the Electoral Commission (EC) that he won the presidential elections.
Whilst there are various accounts regarding the circumstances surrounding the hurried exit of the President (coming up) , the government’s official statement suggests that the President was attending two Presidential inaugurations in West Africa and an unexplained visit to the UK.
Security sources say the exit of the President who lost a lot of votes in in Burma Camp during the special voting was occasioned by “a serious incident”
But Minister of Information, President Akufo Addo is expected to attend the presidential inauguration ceremonies of two newly elected despotic African Presidents: Alassane Ouattara, President-elect of Cote d’Ivoire and Alpha Conde of Guinea, whose winning of their presidential elections has been marred by the widespread killing of angry citizens, unconstitutional third terms in office and massive electoral rigging.
In a statement released by the Jubilee House, after the inauguration ceremonies in Ivory Coast and Guinea, President Akufo Addo will cool off in London for an unknown number of days before returning to Ghana on December 21, 2020.
This is despite the fact that President Akufo Addo was declared winner in one of the bloodiest and dirtiest presidential elections in the history of Ghana’s Fourth Republic.
Over half a dozen people have been shot dead by security agents and implants believed to be members of the ruling party’s feared militia group, the Invisible Forces. Several scored of people are currently in critical conditions after suffering gunshot injuries during the confusion that ensued during the controversial general elections on December 7, 2020.

According to the statement from the presidency, “President Akufo-Addo is, on Monday, 14th December, attending the swearing-in ceremony of His Excellency Alassane Ouattara, President-elect of Cote d’Ivoire, in Abidjan, and will, on Tuesday, 14th December 2020, attend the swearing-in ceremony of the President-elect of the Republic of Guinea, His Excellency Professor Alpha Condé.”
Critics have wondered if it was reasonable for the Ghanaians President to embark on such a long trip amidst the confusion surrounding his declaration as the winner of the presidential election on December 7, 2020.
The ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) on whose ticket President Akufo Addo stood for the presidential elections has been accused of systematically conniving with the Electoral Commission to massively rig the elections.
Already, the main opposition leader, ex-President John Dramani Mahama has rejected the results of the presidential polls, claiming he was the legitimate winner of the race.
The situation has set off serious tension in Ghana with the pockets of protests punctuating the peace of Ghana set to snowball into massive civil unrest.
Already, some cross-sections of the military are reportedly pissed with the turn of events in the election that has some of their alleged colleagues shooting live bullets through crowds of unarmed citizens protesting election rigging by the governing party.
