Citizens Vigilante Is Back! Amidu Warns NPP Risks Dirty Secret Being Exposed

Resigned Special Prosecutor, Martin Amidu, has warned the Akufo-Addo government to get the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP)’s attack dogs off his back or else he will be forced to spill dirty secrets that he has decided to keep in the closet for now.

In a statement released today, reminiscent of his famous epistles as a “Citizens Vigilante”, Martin Amidu particularly warned the NPP to their muzzle the “unstable” Assin Central Member of Parliament, Kennedy Agyapong for his “lies” against him [Amidu].

Ken Agyapong has claimed on his Net 2 TV station that Martin Amidu had a debilitating health problem that had required him to seek treatment in Germany.

But Amidu had rubbished this claim saying: ” I have never had any reason or occasion to visit Germany throughout my life, let alone to visit any medical facility on health grounds. The records of my travels which are available to the lying Kennedy Agyapong’s Government can be checked and the GermanEmbassy contacted whether i have throughout my life made an application for a visa or visited Germany.”

Earlier in an interview with Citi FM’s Umaru Sanda, he calls the dirty files that he has on the government, especially Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta, as “dirty linen.”

“…and when I decide to respond, I will do so without fear or favor and as I have already said, if in doing so I lose my life by speaking the truth and defending the constitution of Ghana as by law established, I will do so.

“Let’s stop it! And I’m saying let’s stop it before we wash dirty linen in public,” Amidu warned.

In the same interview, he reminds the Akufo-Addo government that, “I am citizen vigilante, and that is what they should remember.”

Amidu’s angry reaction comes in response to a flurry of attacks that have been directed at him in the media by members of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) following his resignation as Special Prosecutor over interference from President Akufo-Addo.

Among others, Amidu has been called a liar, a coward, a traitor and an incompetent man. 

Amidu also hinted he believes Ken Agyapong, bankroller of the ruling NPP got his money which enables him to attack people, by ill means.

“That sitting MP has the character of assassinating the characters of every responsible citizen including judges of the Superior courts, so why would anybody give him credibility… I knew from the beginning that corruption will fight back and all that is going on, is corruption fighting back …nobody should push me; I repeat, nobody should push me,’’ Amidu warned Akufo Addo and his appointees.
