Foul-Mouthed Kennedy Agyapong Dragged To Court By Manasseh Azure

The loose-talking Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong has landed in yet another trouble, with renowned investigative journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni ordering his lawyers to file a suit against the lawmaker for defamation.

Kennedy Agyapong who is currently receiving preferential treatment in a contempt charge at the High Court is no stranger to defamation lawsuits. He recently barely wriggled out of a similar defamation suit slapped on him by veteran journalist, Abdul Malik Kwaku Baako. He was fined some GHC 100,000.

The latest suit was announced by Mr. Azuri on his Facebook page, saying he has taken notice of a false campaign launched against him by Kennedy Agyapong and has vowed to seek justice in court.

“My attention has been drawn to a sustained smear campaign of outright lies by Assin Central MP, Kennedy Agyapong, against my person. This started when I published the “Contracts for Sale” documentary that implicated and resulted in the removal from office of the CEO of the Public Procurement Authority, Adjenim Boateng Adjei,” Azure wrote.

“However, it is unacceptable to continue to lie blatantly when he knows that there’s no truth in his malicious and defamatory claims that I sought a bribe in the investigative report. My lawyers advised that I ignore him when he started the false publications. But it is obvious he has not and will not stop unless compelled by a court.”

Ken Agyapong has been very quick at launching scathing attacks on journalists that expose massive corruption in the Akufo Addo administration, one such attack ended fatally after Ahmed Hussein Suale was assassinated after Kennedy Agyapong put a bounty on his head.

Suale was doing an undercover investigation on allegations that the disgraced former President of the Ghana Football Association, Kwasi Nyantakyi was preparing to bribe President Akufo Addo and Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia some US$ 5 million to allow him to secure lucrative state contracts.

Similarly, Kennedy Agyapong’s reaction to Azure’s exposition of massive corruption by the Public Procurement boss, A.B Adjei, had been extremely hostile, claiming the sacked PPA boss was innocent.

He is clean and I will say he has not done anything wrong as some of the NPP members are saying calling for his crucifixion. It is rather Manasseh Azure Awuni who is evil because this is a man, he has been going to take money from,” Ken Agyapong had said on his media platforms.

“How do you accuse a man who is not running the day-to-day affairs of a company he left years ago of conflict of interest and some of you NPP people are hailing corrupt Manasseh for the investigations,” he asked.

Following Azure’s revealing investigations at the PPA, President Akufo Addo was forced by a report of the Commission for Human Right and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) to sack the PPA boss Adjenim Boateng Adjei.
