Over 90% Education Ministry staff Positive For COVID-19 GSE D-G Infected

The Minister of Education Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh has confirmed that more than 90 per cent of the ministry’s staff have tested positive for COVID-19.

Speaking to Peace FM this morning in an interview monitored by Whatsup News, Dr. Opoku- Prempeh who himself, had just been discharged for COVID-19 infection, stated that mass testing was conducted at the ministry showed that majority of its staff have been infected.

 “After my second result come out as positive, testing was conducted on all staff at the ministry and the results showed that out of every 50 persons about 45 had contracted the virus. Most of them are asymptomatic so they are isolating at home,” the minister disclosed.

“For all the 52 years of my life I’ve never been admitted at the hospital before and it was not a pleasant experience. The disease is very real and I don’t wish it on even my foe,” the terrified Minister narrated his ordeal dealing with COVID-19.

Meanwhile, preliminary reports picked up by Whatsup News indicates that theDirector-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Professor Kwasi Opoku Amankwa has tested positive for the COVID-19 coronavirus.

Professor Opoku Amankwa who is a member of an 11-member committee chaired by Senior Minister Yaw Osafo-Maafo (a COVID-19 patient) is reportedly one of five members of that committee to have tested positive for the virus.

Prof. Amankwa has reportedly been forced into isolation and is undergoing treatment.
