Muslims Reject “Satanic” Sex Curriculum

The National Chief Imam has articulated the rejection of the Ghanaian Muslim community to the controversial Comprehensive Sexuality Education (CSE) school curriculum being flagged as a subtle Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) agenda.

In what it described as a satanic agenda, the office of the National Chief Imam today issued a stern warning to the Akufo Addo government to scrap any attempt to adopt the new reported sexually suggestive curriculum sponsored by the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF).

“We would like to state unequivocally that the Islamic Community does not accept any form of educating minors and pupils on sexuality.  In our estimation, such a move is an attempt to hide behind educational reforms to brainwash the pupils with LGBT agenda,” the Chief Imam’s office said in the statement signed by Alhaji Khuzaima Osman, the personal assistant to the National Chief Imam.

It explained further Islamic perspective on the CSE which seeks to start introducing diverse sexuality education to students from five years old till their teenage age: “Ideally, Islamic jurisprudence recommends that sexual education be introduced to children above the age of 10. This is the time the children are expected to begin to understand the socio-moral consequences of the choice of sex orientation.

We, therefore, urge the sector Ministry and GES to consider a broad consultation with relevant stakeholders on the implementation of the controversial policy,” the statement read.

The statement represented the views of virtually all organised Muslim groups in Ghana, including the Tijjaniya Muslims of Ghana, the Islamic Peace and Security Council of Ghana (IPASEC), the Islamic Council for Development and Humanitarian Services (ICODEHS), the Islamic Research Association of Ghana and the Association of the 16 Regional Chiefs Imams.

“We appeal to the Ministry and GES to drop that satanic agenda in the interest of national cohesion and moral promotion,” the Chief Imam said in the second time the CSE has been described as a satanic agenda by a religious group. On Monday, the Charismatic Christian community also described the CSE as a satanic agenda being pushed by LGBT lobbyists.
