‘Bawumia Has Met His Meter’ – Prof. Opoku-Agyeman Throws Challenge

Prof. Naana Jane Opoku Agyeman, the newly named Vice Presidential Candidate of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has served notice to Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia that the campaign for the 2020 Presidential election will be fire for fire.

In a tweet following her acceptance of the nomination as former President John Mahama’s Running Mate, Prof. Opoku-Agyeman, who hardly known for such audacious call-out warned that Akufo-Addo’s Vice has met his match.

“Very humbled to partner@JDMahama in leading the NDC towards the 2020 General Elections. Thank you for all your well wishes and I urge you all to support us as we #KickNanaOut. As for Bawumia, he has met his meter!” She tweeted.

The tweet has jolted many as the tweet is seen as her call to battle. The tweet also opens her up to the minefield of mainstream Ghanaian politics where insults and personal attacks rule.

Apparently, the good Professor is responding to views by critics that she may be too brittle for the campaigning task.

Prof. Opoku-Agyeman has never really been a political person. Even when she was Education Minister, she left all the public talking to her Deputy, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa.

However, it is also known that while she was the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape-Coast, Prof. Opoku Agyemang had made a reputation for herself as quite a steely woman.

Many students who felt over-tasked by a very high grading regime that she introduced described her in terms bordering on a martinet taskmaster.
