COVID-19 arrest, 8 persons remand

Accra Circuit Court 11 has remanded eight persons who bridged COVID-19 restriction directive by the president.

The Accra Circuit Court decision put the eight into police custody after they pleaded not guilty to charges of two counts. I.e Conspiracy to commit crime and failing to comply with restrictions imposed, contrary to section 6 of the imposition and restrictions act 2020 (ACT 1012).

PRO of Accra Regional Police Commander, DSP Effia Tenge confirmed in telephone interview with Chasenewsroom said, and the eight suspect were arrested at Cambodia in Sprintex-Accra, where they caught partying with over forty people in attendance. The police arrested eight with the landlord of the property, who arraigned before the court yesterterday 7th April. The landlord upon further questioning has been granted bail while the eight have been remanded, and are to re-appear in court on 14th April.
