Popular Cocoa Farmer Reports Akufo-Addo To John Mahama

A prominent cocoa farmer of Kasapin, a community in the Ahafo Region, has decried the Akufo-Addo government’s mistreatment of cocoa farmers saying he cannot wait for John Mahama to return to the Presidency so that the regime of free cocoa fertilizers is reinstituted.

In what is akin to filing a complaint against President Akufo-Addo to his predecessor, Agya Ntow, popular for his Ntow Body Cream pomade, said that the Akufo-Addo government has made life unbearable for cocoa farmers by skimming the producer price of cocoa.

“JDM you and your entourage, friends and loved ones who are gathered here, I speak for farmers, my name is Elder Ntow, Ntow body cream, as you all know.

“Sometime past, when our father was on the seat, cocoa farmers used to get a lot of attention and help because the way he increased the purchase price of cocoa was very encouraging. But now let us look at in the past four years, how much increments have farmers receive?” he asked rhetorically.

While reducing the income of cocoa farmers, Agya Ntow also said that the same Akufo-Addo government has also reversed the Mahama government policy of distributing free fertilizer to cocoa farmers.

“Fertilizer that this our father used to dash to farmers, today it is being sold. They used to tell us that the free fertilizer was not good, unbeknownst to us, it was all lies; the rabbit was just deceiving the monkey.”

The popular cocoa farmer assured the former President of votes from cocoa farmers in the 2020 election saying the farmers want him back so that he can restart his good policies. “And so, sir, we know that very soon, 2021, you will mount the seat of government, and when you mount the seat of government again, what farmers will need the most from you is, that you pay attention to our cocoa farming. Help us so that farmers too may see improvement in their lives.

“Throughout the world, it is farmers who enjoy the best wealth but this is not the case in Ghana where farmers suffer poverty. We plead that when you come, all the necessary things needed for the cultivation of cocoa be made available for the farmers.

“Today, they say they are selling the same fertilizer you gave us for free, to us. We know that you are coming in 2020 and when you do, please remember us, farmers.”
