NDC Looks Up To God …as it heralds ‘VEEP’ naming with Fasting And Prayer

The 2020 Presidential Candidate of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), former President John Mahama, is said to be gearing up to name his Running Mate for the Presidential election this month, March.

Ahead of the naming ceremony, members of the party have been urged to fast and pray in preparation for the coming of the ‘anointed one.’

According to a circular on the NDC’s various social media platforms, all Christian party members are to fast from 6 am to 6 pm from today, till Tuesday along with prayer and supplication to God.

“All NDC  members are to *FAST and PRAY from today(Sunday) 1st of March 6a.m to 6p.m each day till Tuesday 3rd March. Those who can not do 6a.m to 6p.m should do 6a.m to 12noon as our *incoming President JM* announce who should be his Vice this March,” the message said.

The message prescribed biblical quotations – 2nd Samuel 15: 31; Proverbs 26:27 and Psalm 35 as scripture for meditation as part of the holy ritual.

For Catholic members of of the party it urged them to use the lent6 period ahead of this year’s Easter to remember the party in prayer and supplication.

“Our Muslims Brothers and Sisters should remember us in their prayers,” it said of Muslim members of the party.

It is not clear if the message has been sanctioned by the party but it is ubiquitous on all social media platforms belonging to the NDC.

Former President Mahama is expected to name his Running Mate this March more than a year after he was overwhelmingly re-elected to lead the NDC into the 2020 election by delegates of the party.

Ahead of the naming ceremony, speculations and expectations from people have thrown up names including party General; Secretary, Mr. Asiedu Nketia who is an accountant by training and a former Banker, Prof. John Gatsi, Dean of the School of Finance, University of Cape-Coast and Prof. Kwesi Botchwey, former Finance Minister, as choices available to the former President.
