CAMPUS POLITICS: NDC EXPOSES NPP’S DOUBLE STANDARDS

The main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) is taking on the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) by accusing it of double standards following the rebranding of Damongo Senior High School ahead of the primaries in orphan constituencies this weekend.

The Savana region branch of the party’s press conference today is in reaction to a general statement issued by the GES banning all forms of political party activities last year, after the Joshua Akamba encounter with students of Timpane SHS who complained about their plight.

According to the regional Communications Officer, Malik Basintale, the entire campus from the main entrance to almost every facility is has been branded with NPP colours even when students are still on campus.

According to the NDC, the development is hypocritical as a much less obvious visit to the Timpane SHS some months ago by the NDC National Organiser Joshua Akamba, invoked serious anger from the ruling party which forced the Police to invite the NDC organiser for questioning and reprimand after that visit.

A suspension consequently slapped on the Timpane SHS Headmaster, Dominic Ndego.

The NDC Savana region Chief Scribe revealed that former President John Mahama who wanted to use the facility recently was denied yet deputy Chief of Staff, Samuel Abu Jinapor is supervising the painting of the school ahead of the weekend event.  A few weeks ago, the Ghana Health Service also issued a statement condemning student nurses for apologizing to former President John Mahama during a visit to the North, describing their action as an affront to the school regulations.
