EC Exhibits Voters’ Register From Tomorrow

The Electoral Commission (EC) will from tomorrow, the 10th of September exhibit the Voters’ Register for inspection by the voting public. The exhibition will end on the 17th of this same month.

At a press conference today, the EC reminded that the exhibition is to provide opportunity for the voting public to update itself of their current status as registered voters.

Mainly, voters will exercise verification of their names and Voters’ ID cards during the period.

The EC however, cautions that any need by any voter to change his or her name and or Polling Station number cannot be carried out at the polling stations where the exhibitions will take place. Such changes, it said, should be channeled to its district offices.

The voting public was highly encouraged to participate in the verification during the voter register exhibition in order to clear any possible anomalies as the exhibition is the only window available to rectify any such anomalies.

The EC also urged people who would have complaints during the exhibition to wait and channel them to a district registration review officer who will be set up in the various districts by the EC to collect and resolve complaints.

It said review officers would either be district court Magistrates or lawyers of at least three year standing.

The same district registration review officers will also receive and resolve complaints during provisional voter registration and authenticate provisional voters’ register.
