The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), is over the moon because of the confirmation of Dr. George Akuffo-Adampare as the new Inspector General of Police (IGP).
The reason for the elation within the mother body of journalists is that Dr. Akuffo Dampare is an honorary member of the GJA; the first honorary member to become IGP.
“The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) joins security experts, social commentators and ordinary Ghanaians to roundly embrace the rightful appointment and speedy confirmation of Dr George Akuffo- Dampare as the new IGP,” the GJA said in a press conference.
“We note with utmost pride that Dr. Akuffo Dampare has become the first Honourary Member of the GJA to occupy the most consequential position in the Ghana Police Service. We accordingly bask in his glory,” went the statement from President, Affail Monney.
“Indeed, the IGP takes office at a time when crime, including daylight robbery, is proliferating at nerve-wracking speed. His appointment should not only ignite the hope of the public in the police but more importantly, give criminals the creeps in the sense that their days are numbered. And one sure way to achieve this as well as define Dr. Akuffo- Dampare’s tenure is ruthless clampdown, massive arrest and expeditious prosecution of such criminals so that Ghana will live up to her motto of a land of freedom and justice.”
