Mahama’s Convoy Did Not Hit Motor Riders

It has been clarified that former President John Mahama was not the architect of the accident involving two motor riders in Kumasi, the Ashanti regional capital, as earlier reported, aides of the former President have said.

Rather, Mr. Mahama had chanced upon the accident and stopped to help the victims who were at the mercy of first responders that were wrongly administering first aid.

It had been alleged that the accident had happened in Ho in the Volta Region, but it had actually occurred in Kumasi, according to information from his aides. 

The motorcyclist are said to have run into a road construction traffic separator just before the Kumasi airport roundabout and the accident had slowed traffic.

Former President Mahama’s vehicle arrived at the scene and he realized that first responders were trying to get the rider and the passenger on their feet contrary to first Aid protocols. Mr. Mahama who knew better jumped out of his vehicle and first enquired if anyone had called an ambulance.

He then helps them to loosen their clothes and instructs that they should be kept on lying position on the ground while they wait for an ambulance.

But with no ambulance coming, Mr. Mahama helped to load the victims into a Good Samaritan’s vehicle according to 1st aid protocols so they could be transferred to a hospital.
