Lordina Mahama Celebrates The Mothers Hiding In Plain Sight

Former First Lady, Mrs. Lordina Mahama, joined in the Mothers’ Day celebration on Sunday, using her social media account to highlight groups of women who are often not included in the conventional definition of mothers.

The unassuming woman who herself was celebrated by thousands of Ghanaians as a mother on social media on the day, highlighted the likes of Matrons of orphanages, frontline health workers and single parents for special mention.

“I celebrate the hardworking and selfless Matrons and Staff of orphanages across the country. They have dedicated their lives to nurturing and caring for the young ones in their care.

“Let me also appreciate the female frontline workers who have fearlessly been at the forefront of the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

“I must also celebrate all single mothers, single fathers and guardians performing the role of mothers. Continue your good works and know that your hard work will never go unrewarded,’’ she wrote.

The Former First Lady is also the President of the Lordina Foundation, a non-profit organization that helps the needy in society.
