GRASAG Gets New President

Heartwill Selasie Tamekloe, a student of the University of Education, Winneba, has been elected President of the Graduate Students Association of Ghana (GRASAG).

Her election took place on January 9, 2021, making her the 26th President of the Association.

She is also the second female to be elected President of GRASAG and the first student ever at UEW to become President of the Association.

Ms. Tamekloe’s win was a landslide as she polled 203 votes against her closest contender, Paschaline Dere of the University of Ghana who polled 158 votes.

The election had been officiated by the Electoral Commissioner, Mr. Eugene Tony Paha, and had had Prof. (Mrs.) Esi Awuah, first VC of UENR and Board Chairperson for GRTF as Special Guest of Honor.

Also in attendance was the President of the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS).

before she was elected GRASAG President, Ms. Tamekloe was the immediate past GRASAG- President for the UEW and National GRASAG Chief Justice.

Other positions on the January 9 elections were Mr. Samuel Gyandoh Panti as General Secretary and Mr. Jacob YeboahBoamah as Financial Controller. 

Mr. Kenneth Arthur Yamoah and Madam Nancy OforiwaaPeprah had stood unopposed for election as Organizing Coordinator and Gender Commissioner respectively.
