After days of stirring panic within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) the Salis Newspaper has dropped the undercover documentary showing the President Akufo Addo took a US$ 40,000 bribe sometime in 2017 and it is damn convincing .
In the documentary titled “Who Watches the Watchman 2”, President Akufo Addo was captured receiving a fat brown envelope from Baffour Adjei Bawuah, Ghana’s Ambassador to the USA.
Adjei Bawuah was in the company of one Hajia Fawzia said who to be the wife of Alhaji Abass Aworlu, the Director of Urban Roads on whose behalf the bribe was being given.
In another scene in the documentary released today December 1, 2020, Edmund Kyei, a Presidential staffer who claims to be an errand boy for Francis Asenso Boakye, the Deputy Chief of Staff was secretly recorded taking bribes to pay off Asenso-Boakye and several “Big men” to lobby President Akufo Addo to maintain Alhaji Abass Aworlu.
When Hajia Fawzia and Adjei Bawuah met with President Akufo Addo at his Nima residence, they clearly told the President that they had come to him directly because previous monies given to intermediaries appear not to have brought the desired effect because they were not going to “the right places”.
Apparently, Kwame Baffoe Abronye (Abronye DC), an executive of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) is revealed in the documentary to have been behind an intense attack Alhaji Abassto force the hand of the president for President Akufo Addo to dismiss Alhaji Abass.
Alhaji Abass was seen as a remnant of appointees from the erstwhile administration of John Dramani Mahama who had to make way for new appointees by the newly sworn-in NPP administration.
When the story broke, communicators of the governing NPP had attempted to dismiss the allegation as fake news;, claiming the event happened in 2016 (before President Akufo Addo won the Presidency) and that the money was a campaign donation.
Observers also say that the President and the NPP’s explanation that the money he received is a very serious issue considering that he was informed that the person donating the the money was a public officer.
A western diplomat who viewed the video yesterday stated that “granted that it was even a campaign donation to the President, how does he explain and justify the fact that he was receiving that volume of money from a sitting public servant, knowing very well his salary. Even this explanation is problematic”
Eventually, a counter video was released showing signs of clear editing with a voice overlay reflecting the narrative of the government communicators.
In the doctored video released from agents of the governing party, the duo of Hajia Fawziaand Adjei Bawuah were heard mentioning campaign T-Shirts.
But the damning documentary released by the Salis Newspaper today (December 1, 2020) puts the context in a better perspective, after a careful tracking of Edmund Kyei receiving thousands of Ghana cedi bribes for the “big men” and the fact that in the presence of President Akufo Addo, Alhaji Abass’ emissaries mentioned Alhaji Abass name as being the reason why they met with the President.
Indeed, President Akufo Addo was seen in the video acknowledging that fact. Tying the knots in the sequence of events, it is clear that the duo of Adjei Bawuah and Hajia Fawzia were not there to meet President Akufo Addo for reasons related to political campaigns.
Meanwhile, there may be even more trouble within the ruling NPP as Whatsup News investigations reveal that Ahmed Salis, the producer and publisher of the Salis worked closely with Kennedy Agyapong, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Assin Central.
Whatsup News investigations reveal that Salis had been working with Kennedy Agyapong until recently when the Jubilee House discovered that somebody had secretly recorded the President in that compromising position.
Concrete evidence proves that Ahmed Salis and Kennedy Agyapong had worked together to produce the first part of “Who Watches the Watchman”. Kennedy Agyapong has not made it a secret that he financed that documentary.
The first part of the documentary was an attempt to discredit investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas when he [Anas] premiered the “Number 12” undercover investigations showing the disgraced former Ghana Football Association President Kwasi Nyantakyi boasting about bribing President Akufo Addo and Vice President Bawumia with US$ 5 million.
Over the weekend, Justice Kwaku Annan, a staff of Kennedy Agyapong’s Net 2 TV had hinted that he suspects the video will be released this week, saying: “It will make the government of the NPP completely out of place; a story that will make the government certainly need a life oxygen to survive.”
Whatsup contacted Justice Kwaku Annan via telephone and quizzed him about Kennedy Agyapong’s relationship with the Salis Newspaper.
Kwaku Annan could not convincingly deny the link between his boss and the Salis team, saying the Salis Kennedy Agyapong worked with could have been a different one from the one that did the secret recordings.
Salis reportedly worked with Anas Aremeyaw Anas, but fell out with him, in what gave Kennedy Agyapong the opportunity to partner with him to release alleged secrets Anas captured in the “Who Watches The Watchman”.
According to Anas, when Whatsup News contacted him via telephone, he has no idea about the secret recording of the President as is being alleged by certain sources, and that he was surprised to see Salis Newspaper publish the bribery saga.
Anas alluded to the fact that if indeed Salis had released the video, then he [Salis] and Kennedy Agyapong may have fallen out.
Another plausible explanation from sources is that Kennedy Agyapong may actually be behind the release of the President’s bribery video for various reasons, including an attempt to blackmail the President.
Further investigations into the background of Ahmed Salis revealed that he is a dye in the wool member of the NPP, having contested on the party’s parliamentary ticket in the Yapei Gushegu constituency of the Savanna Region.
Our sources, tell of how the NPP administration was gripped with panic when it became apparent to them that the President had been captured on tape receiving the bribe.
At the time, Kennedy Agyapong complained bitterly about how the administration had given Anas Aremeyaw Anas and his boss and Managing Editor of the New Crusading Guide, Abdul Malik Kwaku Baako, unrestrained assess to the President when they knew Anas tendency to secretly record people.
Reliable sources tell Whatsup News that Ahmed Salis may have misinformed the Jubilee House that the secret recordings of the president were done by Ahmed Hussein Suale, a partner to Anas Aremeyaw in the Number 12 exposition.
Shortly after the debacle, Ahmed Suale was assassinated in cold blood while driving home from work.
Immediately after Suale was killed, Kennedy Agyapong was the first to go on air claiming Anas Aremeyaw may have known about the death and must be the main suspect.
Meanwhile, Whatsup News is gathering that Salis may be attempting to sneak out of the country into exile because he has become a target of government agents who may want to silence him from releasing more damaging videos.
