Volta NDC Women Spit Fire At Paul Adom Otchere For Badmouthing Zanetor Rawlings

The Women’s Wing of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Volta Region has descended heavily on controversial journalist, Paul Adom Otchere, in response to insults that the Metro TV show host allegedly heaped on the MP for Korley Klottey, Zanetor Rawlings.

A statement signed by Dzifa Attivor, Chairperson of the NDC Women’s working committee, character-sketched Mr. Adom Otchere as a paid mercenary of the ruling NPP with a shameful streak of lying and attacking people for the ruling party, and that the attack on Zanetor Rawlings was just another dirty job for his paymasters.

“The Women’s Wing in the region sees this attack by Mr. Adom Otchere on the illustrious daughter of the region as an attack on all hardworking women of the region. As far as the Women’s wing is concerned, the conduct of Mr. Adom Otchere is a deliberate one, calculated to tarnish the integrity and the person of the hardworking MP. The behaviour of Mr. Adom Otchere runs contrary to the very basic standards of Journalism, and can best be described as the work of an unrepentant mercenary and not a Journalist.

“The Women’s wing has also for a while now, watched with distaste the conduct of Mr. Adom Otchere, anytime he sits infront of the cameras. Suffice it to say that he has lost touch with his calling as a journalist and has become an accomplished mercenary and a propaganda tool in the hands of the NPP. 

“We are very much aware of his appointment to the Board of the National Communications Authority; and while we know that Mr. Adom Otchere would want to return the favour, we expected, in the least, that he would have some semblance of self-respect and exhibit some modicum of discretion becoming of his new office. 

 “From the foregoing, it is evident Mr. Paul Adom Otchere has credibility issues. Would be better he focuses on how to fix his tattered credibility, provided that it is doable. It’s unfortunate Mr. Paul Adom Otchere left us no other option but to call him out for who he has become; a disgrace to impartial and unbiased journalism. He has such an exaggerated opinion of himself and it’s unfortunate the sacred institution of journalism should have to suffer such disgrace on account of one misguided political mercenary.”

The journalist who hosts Metro TV’s ‘Good Evening Ghana’ program is said to have gone on air on Thursday and heaped invectives on Dr. Rawlings while the MP was not on air.

Paul Adom Otchere had been reacting to the Korle Klottey MP’s protest of partisan profiling that officials of government are using to guide their distribution of aid, including food, to Ghanaians in the Covid-19 lockdown areas.

According to many reports, the aid is only being channelled to known NPP members while known NDC members and supporters are ignored.

Before Dr. Zanetor Rawlings would make her complaint, musician, One Love the Kubulor, had similarly complained about the partisan nature of the distribution of the Covid-19 aid.
