The Minister for Inner City and Zongo Development, Hon. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid together with Hon. Cynthia Morrison, Minister of Gender and Social Protection, Hon. O.B. Amoah, Deputy Minister of Local Government, Hon. Henry Quartey, Deputy Minister of National Security, Alhaji Hannan, Executive Secretary of National Buffer Stock and other government officials, presented bags and cartons food items to the Office of the National Chief Imam. The presentation was part of President Akufo-Addo’s directive to supply food items to vulnerable citizens in our communities in light of the lockdown. The items are to be shared to residents of Fadama and its environs.

In his brief remarks, the Hon. Minister stated that the presentation to the National Chief Imam was a symbolic gesture since he is the head of the Muslim community in Ghana. He disclosed that the Ministry will collaborate with Zongo Chiefs and Imams to ensure that thousands of households in Zongo communities in the lockdown areas (Greater Accra Metro and Greater Kumasi Metro) receive food packages made up of rice, gari, beans, oil, eggs and sardine. Distribution of the packages will begin today, Monday, 6th April, 2020.
