MINISTRY OF HEALTH REFUSES TO RELEASE CORPSE OF COVID-19 VICTIM

The Ministry of Health has refused to release the body of a Dutch national who died of Covid-19 coronavirus in Ghana.

Apparently, the Netherlands Embassy in Ghana had written to the Ghanaian government on March 28, 2020, for the release of the mortal remains of a man of Dutch nationality who had died of Covid-19 in Ghana.

However, the Minister of Health, Kwaku Agyemang-Manu flatly denied the Dutch the request, saying: “We regret to inform you that according to our Public Health Regulations, persons who died in such instances are strictly handled and buried by the State. Therefore, unfortunately, we are unable to grant your request.

The victim had died at the Ga East Municipal Hospital and was transferred to a private mortuary facility in Accra.
