Alhaji Grusah calls on GFA to halt Premier League over COVID-19 outbreak

King Faisal bankroller Alhaji Karim Grusah has called on the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to pause the ongoing Premier League due to the novel coronavirus outbreak.

Several league championships in the world including the English Premier League, German Bundesliga, Italian Serie A, French Ligue 1 and the Major League Soccer have been suspended following the coronavirus pandemic.

On Thursday, Ghana confirmed their first two cases of the COVID-19.

According to the maverick King Faisal, the remaining fixtures of the Ghanaian top-flight league and other football competitions should be put on hold until further notice.

“We should all pray that people in our country don’t get infected with the deadly virus (Coronavirus) after two people were confirmed testing positive,” Grusah told OTEC FM

“The Ghana FA should be considering to suspend the Ghana Premier League and other competitions for weeks or months.”

“I know people will say it’s because my team [King Faisal] is in the drop zone that’s why I am making those suggestions. But we should be thinking of the lives of human first before football.”

“We should follow the steps of other Football Association to suspend our football activities for weeks or months, he deduced.

King Faisal are languishing at the bottom of the Ghana Premier League with 6 points after 14 round of matches.
