Sunyani Traditional Council Effects ‘By-Force’ Mourning With Beatings

The Sunyani Traditional Council in the Bono Region has unleashed its palace guards and traditional warriors into town to enforce an order to all residents of the city to wear mourning clothes and cry as a mark of respect to their dead Queen Mother, Nana Yaa Nyama Puduo.

Whatsup News gathered that as part of the enforcement, the traditional soldiers are beating people who are found within the city not wearing the red and black funeral clothes.

Video footages of attacks have since surfaced on social media and shocked many. There have been reports that the brute enforcers of the by-force mourning decree included Police officers. The Police have however denied this.

The Bono region Police command has claimed that the people rumoured to be Police officers are not Police officers and that it has launched an investigation into the assault.

According to reports, some of the perpetrators have already been arrested and being queried.

Nana Yaa Nyama Puduo ll died suddenly at the age of 64 while receiving treatment for an unknown illness at the Bono Government Hospital in Sunyani.
