Effutu Residents Declare Aluta , Block SHS Use As Covid-19 Center

Residents of Effutu in the Cape Coast Municipality of the Central Region on Thursday, protested the selection of the Effutu Senior High School as a Covid-19 isolation and centre by Government.

Among others, the angry residents who say that the selection of the facility is not acceptable because it will rather spread of the virus, blocking roads in the area as part of the protest.

Dozens of residents poured into a road leading to the school to prevent authorities from the Ghana Health Service and the Ministry of Health from accessing the school.

Effutu SHS is among the institutions in the Central Region selected to host suspected cases after the region recorded its first case of the novel coronavirus yesterday.

The selection was done by the Ghana Health Service (GHS) and the Ministry of Health which have supervised the designation of facilities across the country, as areas of isolation and quarantine as the cases arise.
