Global Info Analytics Defends Methodology Behind Latest Election Polls Amid Criticism

The Executive Director of Ghanaian polling firm, Global Info Analytics, has refuted allegations of flawed polling results for the upcoming 2024 elections.

Mussa Dankwa emphasized that the polls were meticulously calculated using mathematical formulas rather than being based on mere guesswork.

Dankwa explained that the sample size for the survey, which has caused concern within the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), was determined mathematically.

Addressing critics who questioned the accuracy of the results, he stated, “It is Mathematics, you can prove it or disprove it. Nobody can tell you that this will not give you this result.”

The latest poll data indicated former President John Mahama leading in voter preference with 54.3%, while the ruling party’s candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, trailed at 34.9%.

This outcome echoes a previous forecast by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) suggesting a win for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in 2024.

Responding to criticisms of the poll during an interview, NPP’s Director of Communications cautioned against placing too much emphasis on the survey results due to potential misinterpretation of the questions asked.

In defense of the polling methodology, Dankwa highlighted that the validity of the exercise lies in the integrity of the mathematical calculations rather than subjective opinions.

He underscored the importance of transparently sharing the methodology for scrutiny by fellow researchers to validate the rigor of the approach.
