Akufo-Addo Govt is a Kakistocracy – Afriyie Ankrah

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) outgoing Director of Elections, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah has described the Akufo-Addo government as a kakistocracy – government led by the most incompetent in society.

In other words, Mr. Akufo-Addo is the most incompetent in society who somehow has found himself as leader ogf Ghana.

Mr. Elvis Afriyie Ankrah who is also a leading contender for the NDC’s General Secretary position gave the definition in an interview on Accra based GHOne television.
“One word that comes to mind when I think about this government is ‘Kakistocracy’. It is a government by very bad people, corrupt people, a clique of family and friends who have no value and are extremely corrupt and they just do things to pursue their agenda,” he explained.

Akufo-Addo has supervised a nosedive of Ghana’s economy while corruption has punctuate every single facet of his administration. He had breezed into office in 2017 on the wings of grandiloquent promises.
according to Mr. Afriyie Ankrah, Ghanaians can now tell the difference in governance under Akufo-Addo and former president John Dramani Mahama, adding that, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) should count themselves lucky if they win forty to forty-five percent of the 2024 electoral votes.
“It is clear. The NDC’s chances against Kakistocracy are extremely good, super good but I want to caution you, ‘Oye Omo’ is a very dangerous lexicon in the vocabulary.
“In any election, you have not won until you have been declared a winner. Yes, based on everything that is going on, the NPP will be lucky to get 40% or 45%,” he added.
Meanwhile, Mr. Afriyie Ankrah revealed a plan to reboot NDC passion among its disgruntled members so the party can unite for victory.

Things are looking quite good for the NDC with many expecting it to easily win the 2024 elections given Akufo-Addo’s shabby performance in office.

Among others, the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) has forecast a win for the NDC as well.
