Pay Attention to Effutu NDC

As the roadmap for the conduct of the NDC branch elections begins nationwide this week, I am excited as you are, that the internal democratic process of choosing our party’s executives and leaders (presidential and parliamentary) for victory 2024, is beginning in earnest.

And as we celebrate our former President, Prof. John Evans Atta-Mills, I call on all in the NDC, to allow his sacrifices inspire us into selflessness, even as we begin our internal electoral processes.

With emphasis in Effutu, I wish to call on the Functional Executive Committee, and all sympathizers of our party, to be guided by our peculiar circumstance as an orphan constituency with an extraordinarily hostile and treacherous opponents who, in addition, has unbridled access to resources, and who would stop at nothing in using money and state institutions, to torment and oppress the free expression of our people, and to steal their verdict.

The Effutu NDC has been preparing to win back power immediately after the 2020 elections, and we are determined that nothing will stand our way.

For almost two years now, as the 2020 parliamentary candidate of our party, I have been privileged in service to the party through the constituency executives, playing a leading role in meeting the educational, and welfare needs of our teeming members, as well as the official administration of the party. This among others includes providing several scholarships to our youth, the payment of medical bills, livelihoods support to several hundreds of people, donations to social functions such as funerals, weddings, etc, and making sure that the constituency leadership represents at all these functions, and all other expenses which must be borne to give political survival and growth to our party.

I had to provide this decisive leadership, and make these profound sacrifices, because I wanted to ensure that there was no void in the interim, until a new Parliamentary candidate is elected. This was also to ensure that I am giving hope and wholistic leadership to the constituency, so as not to lose our members to our opponent.

Despite the challenges, I am pleased to see the result of these sacrifices.

As we go to the polls to elect our branch executives, I would like all of us to be guided by our collective founding spirt, that the choices we make have implications for who becomes our constituency, regional and national executives, as well as who becomes our Parliamentary and presidential candidates, and the attendant implications for our victory come 2024.

We must, at all costs, elect selfless, committed, and hardworking members with unquestionable loyalty to the NDC party.

Ghanaians are crying for the return to power of the NDC. We must give them nothing but what they are asking for; the return of the NDC.

I wish all branch aspirants well in their forthcoming elections, as I assure all my continuous resolve to fend for the party’s operational and administrative upkeep to maximize our electoral success, until a new leader is elected.

James Kofi Annan

(Effutu NDC 2020 Parliamentary Candidate)
