Countryside Orphanage gifted food, other items worth GHC50,000 by XYZ Broadcasting Ltd

Countryside Orphanage based at Bawjiase, near Kasoa in the Central region has received one of the biggest donations yet of assorted food items, detergents and clothes worth GHC50,000, since its inception.

The presentation by Accra based XYZ Broadcasting Limited, owners of Power FM, TV XYZ and Radio XYZ over the weekend included bags of rice, gari, maize, sugar, packs of assorted minerals, biscuits, canned fish, tomato paste, detergents, cartons of X-Natural Mineral Water, inned milk, sanitary pads, diapers, detergents, reading books, bales of used clothes and footwear.

Dubbed “Easter Kyerɛ Wodɔ’, the initiative solicited support from its valued listeners and clients to put smiles on the disadvantaged during the festive occasion.

The maiden edition involved staff who did not only dine with the inmates on Easter Friday but also danced and had fun with them to demonstrate love and care.

In a brief presentation on behalf of the Events Team, General Manager of Radio XYZ, Agyeman Prempeh thanks Ghanaians especially loyal listeners of various media platforms owned by XYZ Broadcasting Ltd. for the outpouring contribution.

He observed that aside the spiritual aspect of Easter which provides a platform for reflection with family, friends and reformation, the occasion also reminds Christians of the need to reach out to the needy by way of prayer and support.

Receiving the items, Welfare Officer of the orphanage, Mr. Patterson Humphrey on behalf Founder of the Home, Madam Emma Boafo Yeboah thanked XYZ Broadcasting for the great relief.

He said part of the huge donation would be extended for the upkeep of inmates currently pursuing further education at various secondary and tertiary institutions across the country.

Mr Humphery noted with concern threats by criminals who occasionally invade the orphanage and used the occasion to solicit support for the construction of a fence wall to protect inmates. He also appealed for a bus from philanthropists to facilitate the movement.

He noted with pride that 13 orphans are currently University graduates and are seeking jobs, praying for God to tough the heart of organizations to help to enable them give back to society.

On behalf of group Chairman and management of XYZ Broadcasting Limited, deputy CEO in Charge of Operations, Eric Ahianyo pledged more social intervention programmes to support not only orphanages but persons especially those in critical need to afford health bills in future.

East Legon Hills based La Grilla restaurant joined the event by providing packs of cooked food which saw staff of XYZ Broadcasting Ltd dining with the inmates aside musical and other entertainment programmes to put smiles on their faces.
