Abandoned E-Blocks At Oborpah and Sekesua Overtaken By Weeds And Reptiles

A tour by the Minority side of the Education Committee of Parliament to discover E-Block schools abandoned by the Akufo-Addo government after they were bequeathed by the Mahama government has covered two more in the Eastern Region.

The schools are at Sekesua and Oborpa.

Photos and videos posted by the Minority MPs show the uncompleted schools overtaken by weeds.

According to the MPs, interactions with members of the community only confirmed that the school blocks had been abandoned.

“We saw the projects, their current state can’t be described any other way than abandoned (see attached pictures and videos). Our interactions with members of the two communities confirmed that indeed these projects have been abandoned,” the MPs stated.

This follows the discovery that another E-Block at Aflao which was about 95% completed by the time NPP took office, has since also been overtaken by weeds in the five years that Akufo-Addo has been president.

When the overlord of Aflao gave the Education Ministry a two-month ultimatum to complete the school block, President Akufo-Addo angrily replied that the chief can go and complete the school himself if he is tired of waiting.

“This is contained in the handing over notes to the NPP. This was subsequently confirmed by the former Minister for Education, Hon. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, when he took over office. If the NPP Government says 60 of our 124 E-Blocks have been completed in use currently, then the NPP has completed 16 and not 31. Even the 16 completed, not even one was started from scratch, they were at various stages of completion before NDC left power,” the Minority stated in the raging controversy over abandoned projects by the previous NDC government.
