Politicians Who Couldn’t Afford Taxi FareIn 2016 Now Own Apartments At Airport …A-Plus

Musician cum political activist, A-Plus has revealed that the Akufo-Addo administration has provided overnight riches for some people who have, overnight become so rich that they now live beyond their dreams.

According to him, the rags-to-riches stories of some people in government is such that they now own apartments in the up-market Airport residential area, even though prior to the 2016 elections, they could not even afford taxi fares.

“Okay, we hear. What about investigating politicians who could not afford taxi fare in opposition but own apartments and houses at places like airport hills in just 4 years?” A-Plus asked rhetorically on Accra-based Radio Gold.

The statement from A-Plus re-echoed dirty divorce revelations of President Akufo Addo’s Press Secretary, Eugene Arhin, whose wife accused of amassing wealth and buying plush houses within four years of NPP’s government administration, even though he was “piss poor” before the 2016 elections.

A-Plus was responding to an observation by a caller into the program who had suggested that for the country to fight crime, young people who are seen driving expensive cars should be stopped and questioned.

A-Plus whose real name is Kwame Asare Obeng added, “What about investigating why the youth are poor and how to give them jobs? What about investigating why Nabco employees have not been paid for months? What about investigating how excavators vamoosed into thin air?”

The musician’s call is reflective of the sentiment that the Akufo-Addo government has not only failed to fight corruption but is itself very corrupt. Indeed the administration has had the highest number of corruption scandals in the history of Ghana’s Fourth Republic.

Interestingly, immediately after he had taken office, President Akufo-Addo had claimed that any appointee who had the motive to make money would not be comfortable in his government.
