Mahama Embarks On Nationwide Thank You Tour

Former President John Mahama is embarking on a “Thank You Tour” of the country beginning Tuesday, the 17th of August, 2021.

The tour focuses on the five regions of Northern Ghana, where he is expected to engage party stakeholders, call on Chiefs and religious and opinion leaders.

He is accompanied on the tour by former Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, but will be joined at every stopover by national and regional executives of the NDC.

Itinerary covering the tour schedules the former President to spend a day in each of the regions.  

His first stopover will be in Bolgatanga where he is scheduled to engage with party stakeholders at the GNAT Hall in the morning. 

Later on Tuesday, he will interact with the Upper East Regional House of Chiefs and wrap up the first day of his tour with religious leaders at the Akayet Hotel.

On Wednesday, former President Mahama will cross over to Gambaga in the North East region, where he will pay a courtesy call on Gambarana, the Overlord of Mampurugu at Nalerugu and later engage party stakeholders.               

Then On Thursday he will make it to Tamale, the Northern regional capital and subsequently to visit Yendi, Savelugu, pay courtesy calls on Traditional authorities including the Overlord of Dagbon, Ya Naa Mahama Abukari II, Yoo Naa, Gukpe Naa, Dapkema and Lamasie Naa.       

According to the itinerary, he will rest on Friday. Then on Saturday, the former President and his entourage will visit the Savannah region where his first stop is scheduled to be Damongo where he will pay a courtesy call on the Overlord of the Gonja Kingdom, Yagbonwura Tuntumba Boressah at the Jakpa Palace. 

He will then engage party stakeholders, the media and briefly address ordinary people at the Damongo lorry park.

From Damongo, he leaves for Wa, the Upper West regional capital where he will pay courtesy call on the Wa – Naa and his sub Chiefs; engage the regional Chief Imam , Aswaj Imam and President of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Mission.   In the Upper West region he will also engage key party stakeholders

The first leg of the Thank You Tour wraps on Monday, August 23 at Wa, the Upper West regional capital. He is expected back in Accra by Tuesday August 24, 2021.
