Supreme Court Judge Dies In Suspected COVID-19 Complication

Supreme Court judge, Justice Samuel Marful-Sau, has been reported to have died today, 10 August 2021.

The cause of death is not immediately known, but some sources are reporting that he died of COVID-19.

It is believed that the 64-years-old had already received his COVID-19 vaccine and his death could possibly be attributed to the Breakthrough Infections affecting vaccinated people. However, Whatsup News is unable to independently verify any of these speculations.

Justice Sau had been very critical in Ghana’s jurisprudence, playing critical roles, including one of the panel members who adjudicated Ghana’s second presidential election petition this year.

Samuel Marful-Sau was born in Assin Edubiase in the Central Region in 1957. After qualifying as a barrister-at-law in 1984, he worked in the office of the Provisional National Defence Council and started private legal practice before being called to the High Court Bench by ex-President John Agyekum Kufour in 2002.

He will later climb the ladder of hierarchy to the Appeal Court judge in 2006. He was appointed to the Supreme Court in 2018 by President Akufo Addo.

Justice Marful-Sau was a member of the Law Reform Commission from August 1998 to October 2005 and a member of the Ghana Frequency Regulation Control Board from 1993 to 1998, while in private legal practice.
