The spoils of power under the thumb of the Akufo-Addo government have overtaken the presenter of Peace FM’s morning show, ‘Kokrokoo,’ Kwame Sefa Kayi, who was today sworn onto the board of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA).
Mr. Sefa Kayi was recently seen busy about himself in a meeting of the NPA Board where he participated under his own distinguished name tag.
Many who have seen Sefa Kayi’s new appointment are reading all sorts of meaning into it, with the most recurring rationalization being that he is being rewarded for his hard work on behalf of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the media.
Kwame Sefa Kayi has often attracted criticism from observers as a broadcaster whose self-acclaimed political neutrality does not exactly reflect in his actions which are reportedly biased in favour of the NPP. He is widely speculated to be An NPP apologist pretending to be a journalist.
Because of this contentious neutrality, the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) has on some occasions boycotted his program, ‘Kokrokoo.’
The party’s National Communications Officer, Sammy Gyamfi, has even had confrontations with Mr. Sefa Kayi over his flirt with the NPP and boycotted Kokrokoo. Mr. Gyamfi has even said that ‘Kokrokoo’ is an overhyped platform.
Many on social media have since been reacting to the news of his appointment with proclamations of vindication that they knew that Kwame Sefa Kayi was all along an NPP loyalist.
