John Gatsi Foundation To Award 3 Teachers

The John Gatsi Educational Foundation has shortlisted three teachers in the Ketu North Municipality of the Volta Region for awards in recognition of outstanding and professional commitment to their work. 

The teachers are among six that had been narrowed down by the Municipal Educational Directorate. 

They are Charity Love Soadzode of Eleme-Sovie Basic School who has been teaching since 2007; Agnes Ama Lumor of Afife R.C Primary School who has been teaching since 1991 and Rejoice Sadzo of Penyi A.M.E Zion Primary School who has also been teaching since 2007.

The information was communicated to the leadership of the Municipal Education Directorate in Dzodze Bagome Basic School, where the Foundation is conducting its 13th competitive mock examination covering Mathematics, Science and English Language.

The John Gatsi Foundation has been at the forefront of promoting education in the Volta Region and has, as part of its activities, been motivating both teachers and students with award schemes. 

Meanwhile, the Municipal Director of Education at Dzodze has reportedly lamented some 5.1% fall in enrollment in 2020. 

In respect of the Basic Education Certificate Examinations (BECE), performances based on grade 6-30, 32.35% passed in 2019 but dropped to 26.53% in 2020 

amidst an increase in teenage pregnancy in the Municipality.

The examination is being monitored by invigilators from the Municipal Education Directorate, volunteers and Prof. John Gatsi, Dean of the School of Finance at the University of Cape Coast, himself.
