Mahama Hints At 2024 Presidential Bid

Ex-President John Dramani Mahama has hinted at contesting the Presidency against the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2024 elections.

According to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament (MP) for the Bole-Bamboi constituency Alhaji Yussif Sulemana during the just-concluded Eid-ul-Adha Muslim festival, President Mahama has said he will return.

“former President John Dramani Mahama who is from Bole has asked me to tell the good people of Bole-Bamboi Constituency that, he has not forgotten of the good things they have done for him over the years and that Inshah Allah (God willing) he is likely to come back to contest elections in his party and so they should use this special Eid-ul-Adha day to thank God and to ask for good health, success and victory for him,” the MP said on Nkilgi FM in Bole, President Mahama’s hometown.

President Mahama was the NDC candidate for the 2020 election but could not sail through in the controversial presidential elections that culminated in an election petition.

Mr. Mahama is currently the only personality in the NDC whose possible contest for the 2024 presidential race appears not to be under doubt.

However, he will have to parry any potential opponent that may emerge from the ranks of the party run up to 2024.
