Ghanaians Sign Petition To Remove Ken Agyapong As Chairman Of Defence Committee

A massive campaign on social media to have Parliament remove the Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Ken Agyapong, as Chairman of the Defense and Interior Committee over his threat to harm a journalist is gathering serious support.

Scores of Ghanaians are signing an open petition against Mr. Agyapong, who has already been referred to the Privileges Committee, to be stood down.

Kennedy Agyapong, on Friday, July 9, reportedly threatened to attack Luv FM’s Erastus Asare Donkor, over Mr. Donkor’s reporting of the shooting of unarmed demonstrators at Ejura in the Ashanti Region.

The MP openly called for Mr. Asare Donkor to be beaten, an incitement that has forced the Multimedia Group to ask the journalist to break from work for his safety.

This is because the last time Mr. Agyapong incited hate against another journalist, Ahmed Hussein Suale, he was shot dead in traffic by unknown assailants.

The Multimedia Group has since also lodged a complaint with the Police over Mr. Agyapong’s incitement.
