You Underestimate Mahama At Your Own Peril -Ken Agyapong

Assin Central MP and self-acclaimed bankroller of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) Kennedy Agyapong, has become a lone voice warning that the misrule of the governing NPP will send them into opposition in 2024.

In the wake of President Akufo Addo blowing millions of Ghana cedis on a luxury airliner for nine-day foreign travel, Mr. Agyapong warns that these situations could trigger an NPP defeat in 2024, saying in that happens, ex-President John Dramani Mahama, the likely flagbearer of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) would be waiting in the wings to snatch back power.

In a radio commentary, he points the NPP to the more than 6 million votes that the former President polled despite what is widely perceived as the most barefaced rigging machination by the Electoral Commission (EC) for President Akufo Addo.

“You underestimate John Mahama at your own peril. Regardless of how poor his administration was, you see the number of votes he polled in the recent elections? He is a force to reckon with and the sooner the NPP realize that the better,” Agyapong said.

He was especially worried that the NPP has not been delivering on its promises to the people.

“The party needs to focus on delivering on its promise to the people because if Akufo-Addo fails, the NPP’s chances of going for a third term will not be realized,” he warned.

The warning is coming in the wake of the return of debilitating power outages called dumsor in the local parlance, amidst high taxes, high cost of living and spiraling public debt.

Amidst all this, the Presidency has been hitting the headlines for blowing millions on the rental of a luxury aircraft to chauffeur the President about.
