As the national disenchantment with the Akufo-Addo government grows, a group of Ghanaians, Sankofa Movement Gh has joined in the defiance of the culture of silence to demand that the government lives up to expectation.
In a statement, the group demands that the Akufo-Addo administration stop what it says is a life of deception and fix the country or else face the biggest demonstration ever in the history of the country.
“A time has come for the culture of silence to be broken and we are edging everyone to get involved before President Akufo Addo and his vice Bawumia permanently destroy Ghana our beloved motherland for us. In the history of this country, there is no president and his vice that has been Soo dishonest to the nation like what we are currently experiencing under president Akufo Addo and vice Bawumia,” the group warned.
In a statement signed by Koriwie Haruna, President of the group and Dankwa Isaac Mireku, its General Secretary, it reads: “The citizenry has been Soo supportive to this government than any other government, but what do we get in return!! total hardship and scary atmosphere!!”
Stating that it is non-partisan and edging citizens to put aside their political affiliations and join in the fight to redeem the country, the statement accused the Akufo-Addo government of lying for power and plunging Ghanaians into a life of hardships.
It said all that the Akufo-Addo government has been expert in achieving is a litany of failed promises.
“Despite the hardship the covid19 has imposed on the citizens of this country, the only thing president Akufo Addo and vice Bawumia could do is to punish us again with the introduction of wicked new taxes, increased fuel & cement prices, introduced Telecom taxes, brought back dumsor…Mr. President, you promised to build Ghana like Korea, my question is, are you proud of the Korea you have built? Is this the Korea you promised us!!
It added that “the corruption scandal under your watch has become too much that even earned you the title “MOTHER SERPENT” of corruption from a man you publicly said he is an anti-corruption agent and therefore made him the special prosecutor. The stinky Agyapa Royalty deal on our mind.”
Sankofa GH is the latest of a number of disenchanted groups that are arising to stage demonstrations against the Akufo-Addo government over hardships and misrule in the country.
