Soldiers Caught using Military Vehicle, Weapons To Rob Civilians

A soldier and a civilian have been arrested for using a military service van and weapons to undertake robbery activities across the country.

Corporal Kwame Ampaw is a 35-year-old dismissed personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces who is reportedly conniving with a civilian staff of the Ministry of Defence Burma Camp, Isaac Appiah, for the nefarious activities.

According to news portal MyNewsGh.com, on 10th March 2021 at about noon, Police received a distress call from one Emmanuel Ofori of Agyare Real Estate and construction Ghana Limited in a suburb of Accra- Ofaakor, that 5 men onboard military service vehicle number 46 GA 92 pounced on the workers at a sand winning site and robbed them of their mobile phones, seized their car keys including 7 tipper trucks and various sums of money at knifepoint and sped off.

The police had reportedly tracked them to one Chief in the area called Michael Larbi alias Nai Atopi to arrest the suspects.

Corporal Kwame Ampaw has his service number 197340 aged 35. Others in the gang include one Emmanuel Arthur and Basit Sulley.

When they have arrested the robbers, the police found Eleven (11) assorted mobile phones, an ID card bearing the name of Emmanuel Dugble, one pump action gun with the number MVO351885 and cash the sum of GHC 1,511.00 were found on them.

All the suspects have been detained and the exhibits including military vehicle also retained for investigation.
